  • Washington governor suspends anti-tax law

    A measure to temporarily suspend the tax-limiting constraints put on lawmakers by a voter-approved initiative was signed into law by Gov. Chris Gregoire on Wednesday.

    Gregoire signed the bill just days after the Legislature approved the measure. The measure requires impact promptly.
  • New Law Helps People From Credit Card Companies

     

     Men and women beneath 21 may now be much less probably to take on excessive amounts of debt, a minimum of if new federal restrictions on bank card providers work as intended.

    A new federal law, the Charge card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure Act, sponsored by Sen. Chris Dodd (D–Conn.), went into effect Monday and is made up of several new regulations that restrict charge card companies’ access to college campuses and protect young adults from acquiring excessive quantities of debt, stated Jared Bernstein, senior economic advisor to the vice president, on a conference call Tuesday.
  • Maine Seeks to Tharwt Federal Law on Guns in Parks


    Maine lawmakers are debating whether to override a brand new federal law that enables guns in national parks.

    The federal law took effect Monday but permits states to opt out. Maine is believed to be the only state so far thinking about superseding the new policy and is house for the common Acadia Nationwide Park.

    A Senate panel is nearly evenly split around the proposal, setting the stage for a large floor debate.

    Democratic Sen. Stanley Gerzofsky favors the ban and says families ought to have places to go where they know you can find no guns.

    But the National Rifle Association says that crime doesn't end at park gates and that persons have to be permitted to arm themselves.

    I think we should ban it from all parks overall. Kids don't need to be around any forms of violence.
